Best in Show goes to a Senior Pooch....but that kinda sucks:(

I was soo happy to hear that the famous Westminster dog show gave the Best in Show title to a senior pooch this year. Stump a 10 year old little guy won! Having 2 senior dogs myself I just love this honour. That said I TOTALLY disagree with dog shows! In fact I HATE dog shows! I do not believe dogs should be bread (inbred) to be hauled around like dolls and living in kennels their entire lives. That is just one reason I think dog shows should be banned. Another reason is that dog shows promote dog breeding and inbreeding. There are MILLIONS of Innocent, sweet animals killed everyday in shelters simply because no one could look after them. Dog shows and dog breeding is brutal and I am totally against it. If people want purebread dogs go for it......there are plenty in shelters! There was actually a story in the NY times this week all about how Westminster is brutal and I will find it and link it to my blog as soon as I can.
I am off to my class just thought I would rant a little.

Sunday Walk

It is finally nice out here so Kim and I headed out for a nice Sunday walk. I tucked my pants into my red polka dot knee highs and Kim thought I looked totally ridiculous. I could care less I hate coming in from outside and the back of your pants are covered in snow and soaking wet! We are going to go out for asian food in an hour or so.... what a perfect day!

Ballons & Hay Bails

I have always wanted to do a photoshoot with Balloons and Hay Bails, just like these pics from this amazing photographer!

Lot`s of people ask me about the Ion cleanses that I get, well these pictures pretty much explain it all. You put your feet in a clean tub of water, the ions pull the toxins from your body, the brown soot is all the crap inside of you....min is usually darker than this pic though and then you are left with a bath of yucky stinky toxin filled water. Ilove my Ion cleanse lady beacuse she reads my water and puts on rubber gloves and pokes through my water to examine all the crap in there. She tells me I always have a lot of tobacco release which I would like to thank the ol` folks for as I DO NOT smoke, nor have I EVER smoked. The years of second hand smoke are evident in my cleanse water! The smokes after diner, the smokes in the car, the smokes while I was in my mom`s belly yum yum!!!!!! Ahhhhh but in the early 80`s they just did not know did they! I really want to find the pic of my mom in the hospital just after she delivered me having a dart. This pic apprenty exists as my cousin clearly remembers it and I need to get it!
OK it is 4:44 in the morning and I just got up to let the dogs out. Back to bed!

Friday

Kim is home today after being in Regina for the week. I have been up early and I thought about cleaning but my computer and coffee sucked me in again, like it does every morning! As you all know my hubby is a bit of a clean freak and I am a slob therefore you can imagine my house at the moment! although I have to say it is really not that bad. I feel that I fuel my husband's passion....his passion for cleaning. He loves it and I provide him a lot of wonderful opportunities to indulge in what he loves!!! God I am a good wife!!!!!!!!
I went for an ION cleanse yesterday for the first time since July and I am feeling pretty good today! My mom and I went out to diner last night and had a really nice time. Although she is having some trouble with one of her eye's. She has Glaucoma and one eye is progressing and it is very upsetting. She may have to postpone her month long trip to Mexico that she has been planning for over a year:( So today I am praying and sending positive vibes out to her! I love u MOM!
Oh yeah and I have had 2 vanilla bean starbucks cupcakes in the past 2 days!!!! My jeans are loving me for it!

oops

Ooops that last post was meant to be posted on my school blog. Sorry I am sure you were loving the new semester clean slate talk I was giving!
Kim is away on Training until Friday therefore I am left to do my own thing for awhile which I actually really like. I love him dearly however it is nice to have the place to myself and spread out a bit. My Mom asked me if I was going to be messy while he is away and I said........"YOU BET"!!!!!!! I love it, walking in the house and just dropping my stuff off at the top of the stairs. I am going to even let it pile up a bit! The dogs love it, it creates obstacles for them to walk through....it stimulates their doggy brains!
On another note my tracy anderson DVD arrived today. I just checked the mail tonight so I will be trying it out tomorrow. Tracy Anderson is Madonna & Gwenth Paltrow's trainer in case you were wondering. Oh and I went lane swimming tonight for the first time in a long while. It felt good to be back at it!
Oh yeah and I got a blackberry....yeah!!!!
School is really busy right now. I actually recieved a fairly large artssmarts grant for my photography 20 program and we will be teaming up with photographers and students from Yugoslavia and South Africa. We will be coming together for virtual exhibition sometime in July as well as having an actual exhibiton at SCYAP around the ssame time.
Oh and my ART studenst are having an ART EXHIBITION at SCYAP in Saskatoon beginning February 21st. If we are facebook friends I have probably sent you an invite! If I didn't check it out anyway!

New Semester, New Goals, Fresh Start!

Exams are finally over....yeeaaahhh!!!! You have started a new semester! The start of the new semester symbolizes many things...... clean slate, change, fresh start, energy, new ideas etc. Try to set a couple of goals for yourself in in all aspects of your school life especially art. Remember your blogs are now being counted for marks. I will be marking directly from your blog therefore you must be religious about updating! Feel free to post anything in between due dates, things that inspire you, thoughts or photograph work in progress and ask for feedback.
I jumped on ETSY this morning to find a few inspirations for the ARt show that is coming up soon! By no means are these my favourite pieces however they just jumped out at me when I spent 5 minutes searching for some inspiration!

I went to Starbucks today and had a decadent Red Velvet cupcake. I actually just left the gym stopped by Indigo grabbed a latte and a cupcake....so I promptly cancelled out my prior workout. Anyways my favourite Artist/Scrapper Elsie Fannigan opened up her Red Velvet store today so I had the cupcake to honor her! You can check out her blog on my blog list to the right!
Now I want to try and make my own Red Velvet cupcakes!
Kim went to the farm for the day today and I enjoyed a day to myself. I love him dearly however he does not like strolling through Michaels like I do or sitting down at Indigo reading random magazines for 45 minutes! He is back tonight and then basically gone for the first 2 weeks of the month:( Oh well!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease 12 cupcake cups or line with paper liners.
2Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
3Add eggs and blend well.
4Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring and add to the butter mixture.
5Sift flour and salt togethr into this mixture.
6One at a time, add the following ingredients: buttermilk, vanilla, and water.
7In a small bowl, combine the vinegar and the baking soda. Fold it into the cake batter. Make sure it's incorporated, but don't beat it.
8Pour the batter into the cupcake cups. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the cake springs back when touched.
9Remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes, then turn out of pan and onto a rack to finish cooling completely.
10Cream Cheese Frosting: Blend together the following: 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened, 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
